Arcadis GMI is proud to
announce that it has has been awarded the
contract to develop guidance, on behalf of
CIRIA, for the measurement, assessment and
mitigation of risks to human health from
volatile compounds generated at brownfield
sites. CIRIA is a leading provider of
technical guidance to stakeholders in the
built environment, and Arcadis GMI has
previously contributed to their
authoritative series of guidance
documents. In awarding this contract to
Arcadis GMI, CIRIA have recognised our
leading reputation in the fields of Human
Health Risk Assessment, and the
measurement and assessment of ground gas
issues.
The output of this project
will provide a companion volume to
C659/665 “Assessing risks posed by
hazardous ground gases to buildings” and
be consistent with and suitable for use
within the existing UK Contaminated Land
Regime. It will provide an important
extension and will be compatible with
guidance from DEFRA and the Environment
Agency currently being developed. The
proposed document will provide guidance to
a range of contaminated land stakeholders
including developers, industrial clients,
regulatory authorities and consultants.
The guidance will aim to ensure a thorough
and scientifically rigorous assessment of
contaminated land sites is carried out,
while minimising the risk of unnecessary
and costly investigations where they are
not required.
